Music

The musical style developed by Pt Joi Srivastava was unique. He mastered the instrumental (gatkaari) style of presenting North Indian classical music, as he had learned from Gagan Chandra Chatterjee. He learnt from Ustad Alauddin Khan as well. He also adopted techniques of Carnatic veena and violin players into his style. But after this, it was his own personal interpretation of the raags which made his performances so captivating. He had the heart of a composer and was always bringing something new into existence.
