Literally meaning ‘tremor’ krintan (कृन्तन) is a musical term used primarily for string instruments to mark the deliberate shiver that evokes pure emotion. It is most common in North Indian classical music. Pt Joi Srivastava had developed a unique style of expressing music on the violin where he used krintan in certain parts of his performance.
